“I don’t like complications,” says Ken Schinke. “As a business owner, you want everything to be as simple as possible.”
Ken took ownership of iLoveKickboxing, a cardio kickboxing gym located in Brookfield in March of 2019. At that time, he retained the payroll provider of the previous owner and expected a smooth transition. But soon, he discovered payroll processing with them was a constant struggle.
“There was no getting a hold of them if I had a question,” recalls Ken. “A response from them might take two days and I could never get a straight answer.”
Frustrated, Ken turned to his accountant, who he says gave him a stellar recommendation for payroll services, IPS.
For the past year and a half, Ken has been using IPS for business payroll. He’s especially pleased about the online access for payroll review and approval – something he never had with the previous firm.
“When I first met with Vice President Pete Feaman, he went through and explained everything,” says Ken. “We sat eye to eye and faced one another. He told me if I have problems, I should pick up the phone and ask to talk to him.
“I love the communication that they have,” he adds. “I call IPS and they answer the phone. And if I have to leave a message, they call me right back. Their staff will walk me through any issues. IPS is amazing. I have so much more peace of mind.”
It’s reassuring to Ken, who as a business owner also lived through the shutdown of his gym during the COVID-19 pandemic. In recent months, the studio has bounced back, he says, as more people return to on site workout classes. Ken is doing everything he can to keep his customers safe, healthy and happy.
“How IPS treats people is exactly how I run my business,” says Ken. “You call our studio and you talk to us. We are always happy to help and make your day better. That type of attitude makes a difference.”
