Welcome Dana Hansen to IPS!
We are pleased to announce the addition of Dana Hansen as a senior account executive at IPS.
Dana joined us in July, and since that time she has immersed herself in connecting business owners with customized payroll solutions, expanding the firm’s reach and developing new partnerships.
We recently sat down with Dana to get to know her better.
Why choose a career in the payroll industry?
I was an art therapy major in college and ultimately opted for a career change. With seven years now in payroll, I find it’s definitely a good fit. I learned about IPS while working for a competitor. That firm only sold payroll, so I felt that was limiting me.
IPS is incredibly customizable. You can do so much with their offerings. Their services are more robust than anything I’ve ever seen.
I love partnering with small business employers to help them achieve their goals. I enjoy finding out what they need and fulfilling that need. There are many new ways to help employers save time, be more efficient, save money and stay compliant.
Describe a typical work day for you.
First off, I need my morning coffee with hazelnut creamer to get me started. From there, I’m all about arranging my calendar. A good portion of my time is usually spent networking and communicating. I like to set aside time for new business development. My approach is to get out as much as I can and if it’s with different audiences, that’s a plus.
Then, at the end of my work day, I decompress on a walk with my Jack Russell Terrier named Jack.
You lived and worked in Illinois for a time. How do you like being north of the border?
I lived in Chicago and worked in the HR and payroll industries. Then, I returned to my home state to be a caregiver for my mom. What keeps me here is a higher quality of life, a less expensive cost of living, less traffic, less pollution, and a greater focus on a work/life balance. People are friendly here and their attitudes are much nicer.
I have a deep appreciation for nature and green space, and love to hike in addition to numerous outdoor activities. My last outdoor experience was camping in Minnesota and Pickerel, near the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Wisconsin.
