Meet Brian Jakel, IPS Business Development Manager

We’re excited to introduce Brian Jakel, our new Business Development Manager. With 30+ years of experience in the HCM industry, Brian brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for building strong relationships. We sat down with him to learn more about his role and what drives him at work and beyond.

You joined IPS in the late fall of 2024. What drew you to the firm?

“I’ve been incredibly impressed by the team that John, Pete, and Sarah have assembled. Their 98% client retention rate speaks volumes. I’m excited to call these people my colleagues and spread the word about what makes the IPS process successful.”

What is the focus of your role as the Business Development Manager?

“I focus on building strong referral channels. Having personally sold more than 2,000 clients, I know that referrals close at a much higher rate because they come from trusted, credible sources. Trust is key in this role, and that’s why face-to-face meetings with our referral sources are essential to building lasting relationships.”

How would you describe your best workday?

“My best day is when I hear we’ve won a competitive sales situation, and our solution has made the client’s life easier. Knowing you’ve truly helped someone is incredibly rewarding.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

“I’m a huge sports fan when it comes to Wisconsin teams, especially the Green Bay Packers. When I’m not watching a game, you’ll likely find me enjoying a good meal (Balistreri’s on 68th and Wells, Milwaukee) or tuning in to a favorite movie (“Goodfellas”) or TV series (“The Sopranos”.)

Tell us one thing about you that others might not know?

“I still hold the record for the 6th and 7th grade standing broad jump at the middle school I attended in Beloit, which can only mean they no longer conduct that event or no one cared enough to break it.  I was unaware of this until my sister, who is a teacher there, informed me.”
